Lunarians
Lunarians is an endgame Final Fantasy XI guild on the Bismarck server,
which was originally founded by Jei in October of 2003 at the start of FFXI North American release. Since that time there have been many significant changes, but the
linkshell mission has always remained the same: to be an innovator, to push ourselves
to the limit in order to complete any and all endgame content, and most of all to
have fun while doing it.
Lunarians has a vast and diverse membership - while our members primarily reside in
North America, we also have members from Europe and Japan, and all around the world.
Events are scheduled primarily based on the EST and PST time zones, but because of
our diversity we remain flexible.
While we focus on the most challenging endgame content, the scope of our activities
is broad and reaches almost every event imaginable in Final Fantasy XI. We actively
participate in Dynamis, Limbus, Sky (Tu'Lia), Sea (Lumoria), Einherjar, Salvage, SCNMs, ZNMs and HNMs, as well as regularly
engaging in events to directly reward our members, such as BC99s and poppable NMs.
Lunarians schedule is encompassing, and as new challenges are unveiled in the
continuing storyline and expansions, we will be there to meet them.
Lunarians utilizes the MMO-famous system known as "Dragon Kill points" - or DKP for
short. Attending events earns members points; these points are used to "bid" on the
items members desire. This results in a simple but nonetheless powerful "work for
what you get" atmosphere, and as a result dedicated, hardcore players will reap great
rewards.
In order to prevent loot monopolizing, and to help distribute items to the jobs and
people who can best utilize them, Lunarians employs a Main Job rule, as well as Main Job item prioritization - when
members join they choose one job as their "Main" job. They will then get priority
over people bidding on an item for a non-main (alternate) job.
Our rules and policies are the result of more than six years of experience with
running and maintaining a premier endgame linkshell.

Membership
Membership Process
Lunarians uses a simple 5-step system for attaining membership.
Please check the Join section for application information.
1.) Application
Applications can be submitted publicly via our Applications forum or privately using the form in the Join section.
2.) Pre-Screening
A private pre-screening of the applicant will be posted for general discussion.
3.) Screening
If recruiters determine applicant has sufficient feedback, they are moved on to screening.
At the recruiters discretion, applicants will be invited to a few pre-trial events.
4.) Trial Period
If the screening process is successful, applicants will be given a Trial Pearl for a period of approximately 2 weeks.
This trial period can be extended upon member and officer discretion.
At the end of the trial period, a 2 to 4 day vote will be taken on the candidates' full membership. A candidate must receive at least 80% approval to gain membership; if approval rating is close to 80%, officers will discuss and decide the result.
5.) Membership
If the trial period is successful, the candidate is granted full membership.
All members of Lunarians are granted tenure positions with indefinite terms.

HNM Ground Rules
HNM Hunting - Any HNMs covered by our point system (DKP) cannot be hunted outside Lunarians.
Rare/Ex Items - All Rare/Ex items that drop from raids have point values. These items cannot be purchased from other parties.
Standard HNM Drops - All sellable/craftable drops from standard HNMs (Kings, Sky, etc.) are collected for the linkshell bank. These items are auctioned to members for points or gil and later sold if there is no interest.
Lesser HNM Drops - Lesser HNMs (i.e. Serket, Simurgh, Cassie) have their drops sold and split among the attendees.

Point System
Lunarians uses the point system commonly known as DKP.
Under this system, every raid attended is worth points, and every item costs points. This promotes a simple but nonetheless powerful "work for what you get" atmosphere.
Everyone has one "Main" job. This job determines what items they get priority on. Members are allowed to lot for alternate jobs according to lotting rules explained further in.
The following section gives additional information as to how the DKP system works in detail:
>> DKP Details
1. Event Values and Attendance
Event Values - Sanctioned Linkshell events have point values. 100% points are awarded for successful events, 200% for first time successes (first kill bonus), and 50% on failure if there was reasonable progress made and there had been no prior successes.
Event Attendance - Members get points for the event as long as they attempt to attend as soon as they're able, and there's still a "reasonable" amount of time left. (Reasonable is defined by officer entering raid)
Scouting - If members are asked to scout an HNM during an event they will get points for the events they miss.
Simultaneous Events - If there are multiple events occuring simultaneously, all attending members will get points for all events.
Point Transfers - Points are non-transferrable between members.
Secondary Accounts (A) - Bringing a secondary account (a "bot") to a raid does not count as attending if the member's main account is doing something else such as xping or farming. Members can confirm with an officer beforehand if bot attendence is okay; if acceptable they will still be counted as attending.
Secondary Accounts (B) - Another member being "botted" at a raid does not earn DKP. Bots may bid items for the account owner, as normal.
2. Item Values and Lotting Guidelines
Item Values - Every item dropped at every event (except AF-related items) has a DKP point value. Factors that are taken into consideration when determining value include: rarity, rare/ex vs. sellable, demand, and market value.
Item Lotting - When an item drops during a raid officers will announce in linkshell that they are accepting bids. Interested members should say in linkshell that they are interested (bidding). Results will be determined by an officer according to lotting rules and the winner will be told to lot.
Ties - In the event that two or more bidders are within 20 points of each other, it is considered a tie. Bidders will lot and highest lot wins the item. This applies for auctioned items on the site as well (/random).
Value Changes - Items may have their prices changed from time to time, reflecting mistakes, updated drop rates or changes in the game itself. These changes will effect rare/ex item purchases retroactively. Officers will always try and avoid changes by starting out with a high value - it's much easier and less painful to reduce a price than to raise it.
3. Lotting Priority
Lotting (bidding) priority is listed below, 1 being top priority. The idea here is that main jobs get priority over secondary jobs, which in turn get priority over people lotting for HQs.
1.) Main job + can equip + has required points
2.) Alt job + can equip + has required points
3.) Main job + can equip + does not have required points
4.) Alt job + can equip + does not have required points
5.) Main job + can equip + bidding for HQ
6.) Alt job + can equip + bidding for HQ
7.) Everyone else
4. Officer Discretion
On certain rare, elite, and highly desirable drops, officers may use their discretion - above and beyond DKP rankings - to ensure drops are handed to people that will most benefit the linkshell.
5. Site and Forum Auctions
High demand items (ex: Kirin's Osode, Herald's Gaiters) are auctioned on the forums. Any member may bid, providing sufficient points. The above lotting priorities take effect.
6. Sellable Drops & Craftables
Sellable Drops/Craftables - Sellable drops from standard, non-gilsplit raids (Kings, Sky, etc.) are collected and kept in the linkshell bank. These items are available by request to members for purchase via points or gil.
Site/Forum Auctions - Banked craftables are auctioned on the forums.
Price Reductions - Certain items will have their price reduced if the purchaser bids for use (intends to actually use/equip the item). This reduction applies only to point purchases.
Purchase Priority - Point purchases will always have priority over gil purchases. If more than one person bids the person with more points will win.
Negative Points - Craftable items may not be purchased if the purchase will take the user into negative points.
7. Main Job Change
Main job change may be requested by sending an officer a private message on the forums. Reasoning must be clear, as the request will be shown verbatim to all officers. Officers will discuss and vote on the request. If the vote is negative, there is a one month waiting period before requesting again. If cleared, there is a -10% DKP charge and two week waiting period until the lotting change goes into effect. Multiple job changes by the same person are very unlikely to be accepted.

Events
1. Events/Merits
Events are posted on the forum calendar, front page and /lsmes. Multiple raids in a single event, for merit purposes, count as 1 event. For example, multiple sky gods in a single day count as 1 event.
Attending 1 event counts as 1 merit.
Linkshell sanctioned events are mandatory if a member is online and not AFK.
2. Merit Payout (Gil Split)
Each week, gil is split among linkshell members based upon how many event merits they accrue.
There are three merit payout tiers: 4, 7 and 10 or more. Each tier has a set amount of gil for distribution to members that fall under it.
Tier 1 (4+ merits) = 200,000 per member
Tier 2 (7+ merits) = 400,000 per member
Tier 3 (10+ merits) = 600,000 per member
When gilsplit is calculated, a member has merits deducted based on which tier they fell in for the week (4, 7 or 10).
All leftover merits carry over to the following week.
There is a one week time limit on collecting a gil payout. Unclaimed gil goes back into the bank.
In the event the bank reaches less than 100 million gil after a payout, with no incoming funds available, the merit system will freeze for 1 week to allow the bank to recouperate funding. After 1 week, bankers will reassess.
3. Dynamis
Lunarians very actively participates in Dynamis. We pay for entry fees.
You may not attend another LS's Dynamis if it prevents you from coming to any of ours. An exception to this is if you are trying to flag city Dynamis's so you can ultimately participate in our Xarcabard runs. Members who need Dynamis flags may contact an officer and attend another LS's Dynamis for those flags, and will get merit for doing so.
4. Limbus
We actively raid Limbus and fight Proto-Omega and Proto-Ultima.
We pay for entry fees after the run.
AF+1 drops are handled seperate of points and rules are announced prior to the raid. Put the job you wish to lot on in comment (sufficiently leveled jobs get priority).
5. Salvage
We actively raid Salvage, typically on an every other day schedule.
6. Einherjar
We actively raid Einherjar, typically twice a week.

Member Guidelines
1. General Respect
Members may not harass or act in anyway indecent to competing linkshells or anyone at events or in general. This includes insults in say or shout, casting spells on charmed characters, detrimental emotes, spamming, and claim stealing.
Any of the above, or any action determined to be malicious, will be discussed among officers and penalties will be handed out to those responsible. This may include temporary removal of pearl, a DKP penalty, or in severe cases, permanent removal.
2. Member Respect
Members are expected to treat one another with courtesy and respect at all times. Arguments are not tolerated in linkshell or party chat, and should be taken to tells. We try to maintain an easy going, fun atmosphere - the entire point of the linkshell is to have fun attaining our goals. Members disrupting that atmosphere may have their pearls temporarily removed - please, again, just use common sense and treat people as you would like to be treated yourself.
3. Account Sharing
Members are not permitted to share their accounts with members of other HNM linkshells.
4. Cheating
Members are not allowed to use ANY kind of bots or cheats whatsoever. Members caught using bots or cheats will be immediately and permanently removed without exception.
5. Multiple Pearls
Members are not allowed to have multiple linkshells.

Event Vacations
For one reason or another, members may wish or need to take a break from the linkshell. We accommodate this by providing a vacation mode.
Vacation mode means members can temporarily skip events while online without being penalized. This does not apply to being offline or AFK, which members are never penalized for.
Time - Members may request to go on a 1 week event vacation. This can possibly be extended to 2 weeks upon explanation.
Notice - Members must notify an officer at least 1 week prior to your vacation. Attendance after notification but prior to vacation is strongly encouraged.
Officers grant vacation mode on a case by case basis. This to prevent us from lacking of numbers for events and to prevent this rule from being abused.

Miscellaneous
1. Absence
If a member needs to be absent from FFXI for a prolonged period of time (more than two weeks), they should inform an officer (only if possible, of course). If absent for more than a month, there is a two week no-lot period upon return to prevent loot abuse.
