To my humble, but surprisingly good looking, audience: I apologize that so much time has passed since our last update! I assure you that the Taru responsible for the updates has been sacked. Properly buttered up? Okay then, we didn’t fire Memo. But I promise you we kept saying stuff like: “Hey Memo, where’s the update!?” and “Memo, do the fucking update, man.”

It was then, in our darkest hour, that the golden Galka came to the rescue. And here I am. Tada~

Lunarians has had an amazing couple of months. Some of the stuff you’ve probably seen around the interweb, some of the stuff has been secret. We’ve had a lot of our usual events: Sea, Limbus, Einherjarjarbinks, SCNM, ZNM, Salvage, and so on. But today’s update is so special- so RARE- that your average relic holder wouldn’t even be allowed to be pictured in it (sorry guys).

See, we have three levels of relic holder in Lunarians, broken down by snazzy metal codes (much like your, how do you say, ‘Gold Canadian Express Moose Club’ card).

Silver relic holders are members with a single relic- I mean, anyone can get ONE, right?!*

Gold relic holders are members with two relics- wowza! Now we’re talking.

And then there’s Platinum Vodou status. You cannot be admitted to this ELITE club without FIVE relics. Damn you Vodou, gil’s supposed to trickle down, buy some poison pots or silent oils or something! Alchemists need love too!

It’s with great pleasure that I welcome two members to the Gold club and one to the Platinum Vodou club!



Foresta finished a Mandau, proudly worn by her amazing bard and equally amazing thief! This is her second relic, pairing with her Gjallarhorn to make her an unstoppable battle bard! Honestly, her thief puts most DD's to shame, and I'd be willing bet now her bard does, too.



Zerocool has finished his Apocalypse, and he's ready to unleash Elvaan hell! His Apocalypse is the perfect compliment to his Aegis- his Dark Knight hits as hard as his Paladin blocks!



Okay, I know what you're thinking- I can't even see that relic Gun! Well, that's why I helped you. Leading scientists cannot agree- can the relic not be seen because Vodou is so small, or simply because it's hiding behind his other relics?! Honestly though, Vodou started this before his Ninja was even done and, as an old-school career Ninja, his Ninja puts mine to shame. Awesome job Vodou, your Ninja is a beast.

Did I mention all of these relics were done within 24 hours of each other? We all got lost looking for relic "???"s, but it was worth it!

Oh yeah, and an honorable mention. We have a member in Lunarians who is constantly accomplishing great things but refuses to be held accountable for said actions! He wouldn't even meet me to take this picture, so I had to use my ninja skills.

Congratulations again- all of these members worked incredibly hard to obtain these. Their work and dedication is evident not only by these relics, but by how they conduct themselves in-game, everyday.

Me: Guess what! I'm writing an update for the LS site.
Fucking everyone I talked to: About time...
Me: Sheeeesh. Well, at least I have a title.

The LS has been busy since I last wrote an update. So busy, in fact, that it's the reason why I haven't had time to write anything recently. Between my daily routine of making million dollar business deals (yes, in this economy), scoring hot Asian dime-pieces, working on a cure for cancer, and writing a tell-all autobiography of how I overcame adversity as a tarutaru melee - I have just enough time to make it to daily LS raids, leaving very little time for anything else. I finally got my priorities straight, however, and decided to put aside the whole "curing cancer" idea and instead work on something more important: putting together a news update for the LS. You're welcome, guys!

With so many things being jaded in this game, I looked through my history of screenshots since the last update, and decided to mainly highlight activities that were either still relatively new/fresh/hip and those that we don't do very often. Of coure, because I'm a sucker for aesthetics, I also included some pretty cool looking screenshots (at least in my opinion).

..:: Pandemonium Warden ::..

We've got old man PW down to a science. So many kills now that I've lost count, though I think it's somewhere around four kills. In a Voltron-esque fashion, we form with ArchDominus to create AntiZerg - an evil, yet powerful LS with the sole intention of quelling Pandemonium Warden. And quelled we have... or is it quellored? I don't take kindly to Q words.

Odin finally decided to be kind to us after realizing that we probably have the most Odin kills from most linkshells on all servers. Notice I said "probably"! We've done 39 total, and since we've done it with 99% regularity every 2 weeks, for the past 2 years, I'm fairly certain we rank pretty high in total kills.

The only runs worse than attestation runs are the ones you get after eating bad Taco Bell. We've all been there, am I right?! Anyway, it's not that these NMs are hard or anything, on the contrary, they're quite fun - especially when a pull is botched and there's chaos amidst. Normally they're pretty straight forward though. Thankfully our luck on test drops has been good. Here are some pics:

The end result is well worth it though. Every time Jayu kaitens a mob, a part of each of us, kaitens with him. I think I read somewhere that the actual modifiers for Kaiten are 30% Loyalty and 30% Unity.



In all seriousness (even though he finished it shortly after the last update), big congrats to Jayu on finishing his Amanomurakumo!

Three months ago, I wrote an update so colossal and epic, that it has taken me three months in the ICU to recover from it. Just recently, I have regained feeling in my fingers and toes, my vision has returned ...slightly (can't see colors yet), and most importantly, I coherent form sentences can again. Despite warning from family members, loved ones, and doctors, I have put aside my own safety to bring you yet another update. An update filled with joys and sorrows, victories and losses, bountiful rewards and pitiful rots! An update so huge, that I had to split it in two for fear of breaking our forums! Well, that and the fact that certain LS mates whined about how they hate loading 50 images on the front page! This one's for you, Fira and Bhak!

I present to you, a compilation of what we’ve been up to these last few months!

...:::Relic Weapons:::...

One thing that sets us apart from other HNMLSes is that we participate in this new and exciting event called "Dynamis." In this "Dynamis" the objective is to kill mobs for only 3-4 hours in order to attain "Ancient currency" which, in return, is used to fund "relic weapons." Confusing, I know. Bear with me - it's actually quite simple. Once you've collected enough currency to upgrade a relic weapon to its final form, you then get to use an awesome new Weapon Skill! Here's the best part: It only costs about 140 million gil to do this! I know what you're thinking, "Can it really be so simple?" Well, if your name is Vodou, apparently so!

People frequently ask me why we only camp certain HNMs and not all of them, like other HNMLSes do. The truth is actually quite simple - we only go after what we need or what people in LS are interested in. We get a new PLD, Finarfin, and he wants Hauteclaire, so off to Caedarva Mire we go!


Fin happens to be the luckiest mofo on Bismarck, however, since he went 1/1 on sword. Only one Khimmy camp/claim due this tremendous luck – a nice change from the usual.


Oh, and to show everyone how lucky Fin is - he got this and a Shadow Mantle in the same week! Pretty sure Fin has horse-shoes up his ass.


-King Vineragoon-

Stinkypoo and Dreamingfaith were after Ace's Helm. They put the work in, got the ToD's and camped, so we showed up with KClub's a-zergin'. Hard to get screen shots since the fight is so short, but I tried!


2/3 on drops - not too shabby.



-King Behemoth-

KB is the coolest. We can't get enough Pixie Earrings and WHeads, so we keep coming back for more! 8 claims in the last 3 months has brought our grand total Defending Ring count to 0/36! Nobody wants to see pictures of rotting WHeads and MLegs so I didn't bother taking any. I’ll take hundreds of pics when ring finally drops though!

-Aspidochelone-

A bunch of us needed more Fields of Valor tabs, so we headed to Valley of Sorrows for some Page 3 action... oh right, and I think Hogosha wanted some turtle eggs.

In Lunarian's history, we've killed 100 Tiamats. Apparently that isn't enough for some so we decided to go for more! No boots, of course, but we did see a rare sight…

-Dark Ixion and Sandworm-

I combined these two because they're pretty much the same thing – stand around scanning for 3 hours, wait for someone in LS to say “POP” then run to OP NPC since it never pops where you are. Worm has much more interesting drops, so we actually tried for it. As opposed to Ixion, which has become more of a, “Oh hey, I think I just saw Ixion run by – should probably go kill it” type of thing. 17 Worm claims in the last few months is pretty good!



I really love how the landscape looks in these screen shots. I especially love the huge, red and gold hill at the lower right that sort of looks like Gunslinger.


Some HQ Worm pics - only because it reminds me of the underground deserts in Super Mario 2 and Sandworm looks like a Wiggler!


Let's see if anyone Tachi: Kaitens it for 14,000 HP restoral this time.

We have the worst luck with sea torques, yet we try for them nonetheless.


Ha, don't really have any interesting sea screen shots though. Hmm, here's one of Max tanking through AV's Hundred Fists. That was kinda cool, I guess.


Oh, and here's one of the night we did 17 Jailers in a row - nothing too exciting though. Bunch of people got Torques and stuff, I'm sure. :)

-Omega & Ultima-

Alternating between Omega and Ultima, has brought us much Homam Zucchettos and Nashira Turbans. No screen shots however, since I'm always volunteering to be part of an outside group, doing a regular Temenos or Apollyon. I'm such a saint.

Since March, we've done...

7 Omegas giving, 3 Zucchetto, 2 Bodies, 7 Hands, 1 pair of Pants, and 3 feet.
6 Ultimas giving, 4 lolTurbans, 1 Body, 3 Hands, 2 Legs, and 3 feet.

-Odin-

In my personal opinion, Einherjar is one of the best designed end-game events in FFXI. The reward/timeinvested ratio is probably the best in the game. Of course, that's assuming you don't get shitty drops.

Tier 3s like this one also make for potential epicness:


Odin is supposed to drop Ebodies and Valhalla Breastplates.


After drops like these, we figured Odin already met his yearly quota by giving away his EBodies and VBPs to other LSes! D-feet'ed!


But then, we got a couple of these...

As a side note, I just wanted to say that I fear any future applicant will be scared off after reading this update, since they’ll see how terrible our luck is. :( Especially after going 2/28 on Valhalla Breastplates.

Maybe some fancy Odin shots will sway them back!







-ZNM-

Did a bunch of ZNMs in the recent months. ZNM’s are pretty cool up until about T4, where shit stops dropping completely. Well I shouldn’t say “completely” because we do get plenty of Aurum and Oracle’s hats. I don’t understand SE’s fascination with teasing us with sucky head pieces.

I like Hydra pics because it's such a huge mob, making everyone else look tiny.


Tinnin’s not as stingy. It gave Foresta an Alkalurops and we even got a few Enkidu Harnesses and some Hachi Sune-ate for our RNG.




Tyger always looks really pissed. It’s probably mad at its parents for naming it “Tiger” with a Y. It’s like those people who spell Kelly with an I. God, I hate that too. /rage!

We did manage to collect some PW pop items, but I’d rather not talk about PW due to painful, painful memories.

-SCNM-

As you can see from some of the screen shots in this update (where members are wearing Quad and Orc helms) we do SCNM once in a while too. After looking in my official Square-Enix FFXI screen shot folder however, I realized that I never took any screen shots of this. Go me.

-KSNM99-

There was a sudden increase in demand for turtle eggs, so some of us waste—err used some KS99 Orbs to help meet the demand.



Didn’t get any Strider Boots, but did get plenty of eggs for all. Besides, any event where you get to SC > MB -- I’m totally all for.

-Bahamut and Ouryu-

For Snore-ryu, I set a personal challenge every time we do this BC – I see if I can stay awake the whole raid! I usually lose. :(
